Serge A. Zenkovsky, Betty Jean Zenkovsky (transl.)
Edited, Introduced and Annotated by Serge A. Zenkovsky. Translated by Serge A. and Betty Jean Zenkovsky.
The Nikonian Chronicle is a monumental work dealing with Russian history from its earliest beginnings in the ninth century to the reign of Ivan IV (1533-84). It is the last and most complete "official" Russian chronicle, compiled in the sixteenth century in the chancelleries of the metropolitans of Moscow and the tsar of Russia. The name, "Nikonian," derives from a manuscript which belonged to Patriarch Nikon and which was the first manuscript copy of this chronicle to be discovered by historians.
